Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) usually refers to linear structure polyethylene, with a viscosity average molecular weight of 1.5 million and a weight average molecular weight of more than 3 million (the molecular weight of ordinary polyethylene is only about 20,000-300,000). The structure is basically the same as ordinary polyethylene, but its physical and mechanical properties far exceed ordinary polyethylene, such as non-toxic, light weight, low cost, low water absorption, good ultra-low temperature performance, especially good impact resistance, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance The five characteristics of sex, self-lubrication and impact energy are the best among all plastics.

 

UHMW-PE pipe has the best wear resistance, corrosion resistance, self-lubricating, anti-blocking, anti-fouling and so on. This is unmatched by other plastic pipes, and the cost-effectiveness of the pipe is the best. It can replace steel pipes, cast iron pipes, stainless steel pipes, nylon pipes, polytetrafluoroethylene pipes, asbestos cement pipes and other conveying particles, powder, slurry, solid-liquid mixture (mainly medium and large diameter pipes). It can be widely used in metallurgy, mining, electric power, coal, construction and other industries.

 

Although UHMWPE has extremely excellent properties, its molding process is particularly difficult due to its extremely high viscosity and low critical shear rate. For a long time, due to the backwardness of domestic UHMW-PE molding technology and equipment, and the gap with advanced countries, UHMW-PE products have not been put into large-scale industrial production, and are limited to pressing sintering or plunger pressure. Small batch production mainly includes molding methods. The product types are mainly simple cross-section products, such as plates and bars. Production efficiency and product output are low, product quality is difficult to guarantee, and production energy consumption and product costs are high and are not restricted. The demand of the Chinese market and the application of UHMW-PE resin make 80-90% of domestic UHMW-PE resin raw materials sold abroad at low prices.

 

With the expansion of China's UHMW-PE chemical industry and the increasing domestic demand for UHMW-PE products and market consumption, we will solve the UHMW-PE product processing technology as soon as possible to achieve efficient, high-yield industrial continuous production. This is a problem that China's chemical industry needs to solve urgently.
